Friends of Duddingston Charitable Trust

Duddingston Primary School has a well established Charitable Trust to support and improve the life and work of the school. The Trust’s aim is to provide resources supplementary to Local Authority funding to advance the educational experiences of the children who attend Duddingston Primary School and Nursery.

Members of the Trust are parents/carers with a child or children who attend the school or nursery (we can have up to 12 members).

At the beginning of 2020 following an amazing fundraising response by the school, the pupils, parents/carers and the surrounding community, the Trust organised the installation of solar panels on the nursery roof. Additional funding was also given by Scottish Power’s Energy Network and the British Airways Carbon Fund.

We also received advice, support and a loan (now repaid!) from the CARES team at Local Energy Scotland.

The priorities of the Trust for 2020/21 are to:

·       manage the solar panels and the income they generate

·       fund resources for a nurture room in school

·       help fund additional resources to enhance outdoor education

·       contribute to the school’s inclusion fund

·       contribute to theatre/arts performances and experiences

The Trust also keeps in touch with the Parent Council and the Fundraising and Events team (FET) and often works in partnership with them.

If you are interested in finding out more about what the Trust does or are interested in joining as a Trust member, please email and your message will be forwarded to the Trust’s Chairperson.

The organisation is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with the charity number SCO044754.
